All Good Literacies
Accepting that "It is operationally impossible to seperate Reality and Information" as 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics recipient Quantum Information Physicist Professor Anton Zeilinger stated, then Information Literacy is THE all-embracing/overall/umbrella/universal literacy. And accepting that UNESCO's Indrajit Banerjee, JK Kelly and Paul Zurkowski agreed that arguing among the literacies is a waste of time then the focus should be on supporting all the good literacies and "mapping the IL universe" as Zurkowski proposed at the first ECIL, IStanbul, 2013.
Here are other literacies that fall under the umbrella of IL: Reading, writing and math (foundational) literacy, computer literacy, media literacy, digital literacy, tech literacy, financial literacy, transliteracy, metaliteracy, multiliteracies, cultural literacy, visual literacy, scientific literacy, data literacy, game literacy, health literacy, ethical literacy, civic/social literacy, legal literacy, multimodal literacies etc. Basically one can be literate in any subject by skilfully using one's senses, (usually five, whose whole is greater than the sum of its parts), to input information from one's environment and processing to create good output in a feedback loop of input, processing and output. And the literacies we become aware of are the ones that a significant group of people support and develop.
"Water is to marine life as information is to people"
"Nutritious ingredients and the meals they create are all food as data and the meaning they create are all information"
